General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM)

The General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) diploma is a three-year professional course, highly respected and widely recognized in the field of nursing. It serves as a strong foundation for those aspiring to build a rewarding career in healthcare.

Upon successful completion, students become Registered Nurse Registered Midwives (RNRM), qualified to work across government and private hospitals, clinics, and community health centers. The GNM program also opens pathways to higher studies, such as the B.Sc Nursing (Post-Basic), further enhancing career prospects.

GNM diploma course is considered as a stepping stone towards making a career in the Nursing field. Successful completion of a GNM diploma leads them to be registered as an RNRM (Registered Nurse Registered Midwife) and are designated as a Nurse to working with Government, private hospitals and clinics.

The campus at : Siliguri, West Bengal

Age & Gender : Applicant’s age must be at least 17 (Seventeen) years as on 31.12.2024 i.e. the applicant should have been born on or before 31.12.2007. Maximum age: There is no Upper Age Limit. Only female candidates are eligible.

Language : Candidates must be able to read, write and express in Bengali and / or Nepali.

Minimum Educational Qualification : The candidate must pass (10+2) examination from any recognized Board / Council in regular class mode with at least 40% marks in aggregate and passed marks in English. Candidates passing (10+2) in Vocational Stream must be from Health Care Science. ‘Passed’ means passed in both theory and practical as applicable.

Nationality & Residence : Candidate should be citizen of India. West Bengal Residential / Domicile certificate is essential for admission in GNM Nursing course. Candidate must be a permanent resident of West Bengal uninterruptedly for at least last ten years till 31.12 2023.

Fitness : All candidates must be medically fit for the course and produce a Medical Fitness certificate.

Registration : After successful completion of the final year examination the students shall be eligible for registration with WBNC as Registered Nurse.
